Getting gunpowder can be quite confusing in Windrose. You craft the bullets, but your weapon won’t shoot because the game requires both gunpowder and bullets.

You look for ways to craft it, but it is nowhere to be seen. However, finding gunpowder is relatively easy when you progress, and here’s how to get it in Windrose.

Where to Get Gunpowder in Windrose

There are several ways to get gunpowder, but if you are looking to craft it, it’ll take a long while of progressing until you unlock the recipe. The gunpowder craft shows up in the Millstones workbench, and the recipe automatically shows up when you get Corn, a key resource in the 2nd biome, just after finishing the Coastal Jungle.

To craft the Millstone, you need 1x Millstone Parts and 15x Wood. Once you have the Millstone, you can craft gunpowder using 10x Sulfur and 20x Ash for 10x Homemade Gunpowder.

It’ll take a while before you reach the 2nd biome, so if you want to use ranged weapons like the Blunderbuss, you’ll have to loot the Homemade Gunpowders. Luckily, there’s also a good way to farm these, and it might be even easier than crafting them.

When you progress in the Coastal Jungle biome, there’s a quest where you have to get four Marks in a pirate camp. This area always has pirates, including Musketeers and Lieutenants. These pirates drop Homemade Gunpowder, and since there are a lot of them, you’ll have no problem getting a lot of them. Now, if you use range weapons to fight them, you could be losing more gunpowder than actually looting them.

If you want a lot of gunpowder, try to fight with melee weapons when farming. Apart from farming these gunpowders from pirates, this same pirate camp has several “Supply Caches” that always contain Homemade Gunpowder. In short, one visit here could get you more than a stack of Homemade Gunpowder.

These Supply Caches and pirates also respawn, so it is also a good idea to set up a fast travel point here. You might also come across some Homemade Gunpowder from points of interest, specifically ones that require you to loot chests. It is quite random, so this isn’t a reliable way to farm these Homemade Gunpowders.
