If you want to get your hands on better armor, weapons, and tools, you’ll need to steadily work on acquiring better ores in Hytale. One of the higher quality ones that is quite difficult to find but well worth the hunt is Mithril.

While most ores are pretty abundant across all biomes once you know where to look, Mithril isn’t one of them, as it can only be found in very specific regions. If you’re struggling to locate this key resource, here’s how to get Mithril Ore in Hytale.

Where to Find Mithril Ore in Hytale

Mithril Ore can be found in zone four regions, specifically areas like the Devastated Lands. This is the only location I’ve ever encountered it in, and even here, it’s exceptionally rare, making it one of, if not the single most difficult ores to get your hands on.

I’ve found Mithril Ore in two ways. The first is by exploring near lava pools around Cinder Wastes areas, which are a subsection of the Devastated Lands biome. I’ve only ever found it in very precarious positions here, though, like a single block dangling over lava, or being at the same level as the lava, making it quite difficult to mine.

The second way I’ve obtained Mithril Ore is by taking down the large skeleton bosses found in zone four areas. Look for massive skeletons covered head to toe in bronze armor with horns on their helmets. They can commonly be found patrolling around the same area where you can mine for this ore. There’s usually at least one smaller skeleton following them around, too.

These skeleton bosses drop random loot, which means you unfortunately aren’t guaranteed to get Mithril from them. You do seem to generally get some kind of rare item, though, as I also got a Thorium Ingot as a drop for beating one, so it’s certainly still worth trying if you manage to find this foe. And if you do get one as a drop, you get an already prepared Mithril Ingot rather than an ore you have to smelt, so it’s extra useful.

Regardless of which method you choose, all zone four areas are incredibly dangerous and deadly, so you’ll want to really stock up on supplies and gear before you venture to them. This includes ensuring you have strong gear made out of the best ores you can find besides Mithril, including weapons and armor. Be sure to also have plenty of food on hand for healing.

Every world is different in Hytale, since each one is procedurally generated, so the exact locations you can visit to find this ore vary for all players. Look for the dark purple patches of land on your map to find the general right area to start searching.

How to Craft Mithril Ingots in Hytale

Once you have Mithril Ore, you can convert it into Mithril Ingots using a Furnace. To power it up, some kind of fuel is also needed, so be sure to grab some Sticks or Wood to get things moving. You’ll also need to make a classic Workbench to craft a Furnace, as the recipe for this useful machine is only available through this crafter.
