Medium Hide is one of the mid-tier materials you should always have in Hytale. It gives you mid-tier weapons, tools, and armor, along with a lot of needed materials for upgrades and even furniture.
Like most materials, you’ll need a lot. Here’s the best way to get Medium Hides in Hytale.
How to Get Medium Hides in Hytale
Medium Hide drops from wolves and den stalkers. Wolves are everywhere in the grass biome, so you won’t have any problems finding them.
The challenge is beating the wolves, since sometimes they come in packs. You’d want to at least have some armor when fighting packs of wolves, since they are pretty strong together. Start farming those Copper Ores and start making some better armor and weapons.
For a quick strategy, keep hitting the wolves as they approach so they stagger. It is better than just blocking, so you don’t lose as much stamina. You can also keep eating Wild Berries before the fight just to have some regeneration going on.
Fight the wolves and start farming Medium Hide. When you get back to the base, go to your workbench (tier 1) and look for the Tanning Rack in the crafting tab (3rd tab). You’ll need 6x any tree trunks, 3x any stone, and 3x Light Hide. Light Hide should be easier to find since they mostly come from livestock animals like sheep and chickens.
Once you have the materials, craft the Tannery to turn your Medium Hides into Medium Leather. These will open up a lot of mid-tier weapons like the Thorium-level weapons and armor. You’ll need to farm the Thorium Ores, though, so you’ll have to at least farm some Iron and get yourself an Iron-level set of tools and equipment.
