The Surge is known for its challenging, Dark Souls-like combat and unique limb targeting system. The sequel aims to retain these attributes while improving upon the core structure of the original. According to today’s announcement, The Surge 2 will be set in a “sprawling, devastated city,” and Deck13 have reportedly upgraded their game engine to support “more ambitious level design” this time around.

The Surge 2 will have a bigger city setting, more limb targeting options, new enemies, and an improved equipment arsenal for players to enjoy. “The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula,” says today’s announcement.

The Surge 2 will release for PC and consoles sometime in 2019. Check back here for more updates on this highly-anticipated sequel.
