36 Useful Tips and Tricks for Moonlighter 2 The Endless Vault
Become the ultimate warrior/shopkeeper.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault combines dungeon-crawling combat with shopkeeping for a wholly unique rogue-lite experience with a lot to like. It is available now in early access with plenty of content to get through, relics to sell, and enemies to beat.
These systems work in tandem, but I can make your early hours much easier with everything I have learned so far in my 20 hours of playing with these practical tips, tricks, and general strategy!
Tips and Tricks for Moonlighter 2 The Endless Vault
- There is no stamina meter, which means you can roll indefinitely. This is the perfect way to move around in the HUB since Will can’t sprint, and extremely useful during combat. So make sure you’re always rolling.

- Loot dropped by enemies and breakables will automatically fly to you at the end of a combat encounter; you don’t need to worry about picking them up during a fight.
- Reminder: You have a gun, don’t forget to use it! It’s perfect for finishing off enemies, downing flying enemies, and activating different environmental traps.

- Breakables aren’t useless. These recharge your gun ammo, and the larger ones (like the cauldrons in Kalina) often drop materials as well.

- During boss fights, always try to finish off minions first so you can focus entirely on the main baddie. Don’t worry, minions don’t respawn (so far, at least).
- Base weapons for each class are cheap to craft, so try them out against the dummy in the hub area. Don’t worry about weapons being underlevelled, as you can upgrade those fast after a few hours into the game.
- The regular sword is the best starting weapon in my experience. It has a four-hit combo which ends in a finisher, and its special is a multi-hit circular attack perfect for crowd control. The spear is also good, but its special move takes a lot of practice to get down and use effectively.
- Enemies and bosses can react differently based on your or their position. Try to focus on their moveset and use that to your advantage. For instance, if you stay close to Garr’x during the fight, he will keep doing a spinning attack. You can basically get a few hits in and put him into a loop of that attack until it’s dead.

- When enemies enter the ruptured state (purple), it’s better to either send them flying into another enemy OR out of the arena. Propelling them to a wall or trap doesn’t do as much damage as you’d hope, but pushing them out of the arena means instant death.
- Try to finish off ruptured enemies as soon as possible, as the state doesn’t last that long.
- I know I said you should roll around like a maniac, but please be mindful of your surroundings. Rolling off a ledge or bridge means you’ll lose a good chunk of your health.
- The backpack is only really useful against ruptured enemies. It doesn’t even push enemies off a platform. Don’t use it during regular combat.
- You don’t need to beat the main boss of a realm right away. Take your time and try to improve your overall stats first.
- If you’re aiming for a combat-focused run, always try to visit the Event (?) node for useful NPC benefits. These can often improve your combat ability or your loot potential.
- Don’t entirely rely on the red markers for attacks. Look out for enemies winding up for an attack because the attack can be sudden at times, and slightly hard to observe in the chaos.
- Decide what you want from a run before starting. Do you want to collect loot or beat bosses and gather resources? Maybe you want to finish a quest or collect all the scrolls. Choose the path that’s best suited for either goal and try to have a focused run.
- For instance, if you want to collect loot, target nodes with chests, but if you want to finish off the boss, go for combat nodes (ignite/foam, etc).
- Try to unlock additional healing potions at Eris as soon as possible to improve your chances of survival.

- You have a Pendant that teleports you back to the hub area. It’s better to use that instead of dying because Relics lose half of their quality if you die during a run, but you get to keep everything you’ve scavenged if you use the Pendant instead. If you’re down to 10-15 HP, just teleport back and live to fight another day.

- You can use the Pendant while you’re rolling or at any point during a combat encounter. You don’t have to be stationary.
- You can figure out the price range of a Relic by finding its position in the Codex. All relics are ordered by value from cheapest to most expensive.

- Tired of walking/rolling around in the HUB? You can actually teleport to different NPCs from the map. Simply hover on their dedicated icon and hold F to instantly teleport to it.

- Always check the six-day calendar in the Codex menu to see what relics might be potentially popular on a given day. You can use this information to decide which Relics might be more valuable on a coming day, which you can store in K33P3R’s chest for the time being.

- During a shift, try to keep an eye on customers interacting with new relics, so you can adjust the price according to their reaction right there to figure out its ideal price. This will save you time as you won’t need to do it in the next run.
- Don’t ignore common relics entirely because they can be used as fodder for your rarer relics’ abilities. If you need something burnt, common ones come in handy!
- That said, you still want to prioritize bringing back as many rarer relics as possible because those go for considerably higher rates than common ones.
- Furniture is more important than you think! Try to buy as many pieces as possible based on where you’re at in terms of progression. They give major bonuses that can increase the value of your relics substantially.

- Aim for the “perfect” price rather than the “expensive” or “overpriced” because only cheap and perfect price reactions contribute to the perk meter, which is way more important during a shift than earning a few more gold coins from an individual sale.

- When you have enough points for a perk, you’ll see an exclamation point (!) at the counter.
- Decorations don’t have any effect on the shop in terms of sales. They only improve the aesthetics of the shop, suited to your taste!
- Try to finish quests as soon as possible for bonuses, recipes, and new unlocks.

- Don’t be discouraged if the price you’ve set is higher or lower than the ideal one, because there isn’t any lingering downside to it. You will always find the same relics during your runs eventually, and can sell them for a good profit.
- You won’t make a lot of money early on, and that’s fine. As soon as you start discovering the perfect price for relics, you’ll be making money in no time.
- Shop upgrades are useful, but I recommend investing gold in your weapon and health upgrades first. You can’t run a shop if you’re not doing well in the dungeons.
- Don’t like the default controls? You can rebind everything in Moonlighter 2, whether you’re playing on a controller or keyboard and mouse.
- When browsing the stock at an NPC, you can add any item you really want to your wishlist. This will allow you to track the resources for those items while you’re out in dungeons.

Moonlighter 2 is in early access, which means that new content will be added, systems will be modified based on feedback, and things might change! I’ll update this with even more tips as development progresses, but these should be enough to make your early hours profitable.
