RE Engine may not be the best fit for open-world titles, but it’s absolutely one of the best engines for linear titles with open areas. CAPCOM aims to continue that trend with Resident Evil Requiem as we get our first look at the technical side of the PC version.
Here are the official system requirements for Resident Evil Requiem, confirmed through its Steam page.
Resident Evil Requiem System Requirements
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 – 64-Bit | Windows 11 – 64-Bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-8500 AMD Ryzen 5 3500 | Intel Core i7 – 8700 AMD Ryzen 5 5500 |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 (6GB) AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 GB) | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super (8GB) AMD Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB) |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
Now, it has to be said that these requirements don’t exactly paint the full picture. Yes, I do not doubt that you’ll get a decent experience with the recommended specifications, but Resident Evil Requiem is the first RE Engine title to support full path tracing, which will most certainly require much better hardware than a mere RTX 2060 Super.

CAPCOM also supports DLSS in recent releases, which is why it’s important for detailed requirements to specify what level of upscaling is used on the listed hardware. The GTX 1660 mentioned above may be rendering at a lower internal resolution due to an upscaling method set to performance mode.

That said, the GTX 1660 lacks hardware ray tracing support, meaning the game will likely offer a non-tracing option. I’m very keen to see how the RTX 2060 Super will fare at a native 1080p resolution at the high preset, and what the more detailed system requirements look like, which we’ll likely see closer to release.
Resident Evil Requiem Release Date
Resident Evil Requiem is coming to PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PS5 on February 27, 2025. You can pre-order the title now across all platforms and choose from a few editions for additional in-game content.
Previous Resident Evil titles were optimized quite well, and I have high hopes for CAPCOM to continue that trend with Resident Evil Requiem.
