How to Unlock New Blades

There are an assortment of different Blades that can be unlocked and equipped from the pause menu, and as you collect more Core Crystals, you’ll be able to generate new Blades from them, making your arsenal much more powerful.

Of course, there are different types of Core Crystals that can be collected, like the Common Core Crystal, the Rare Core Crystal, and the Beastly Core Crystal. Each different type that you collect will generate different types of Blades, and the rarer the Core Crystal, the better the blade itself will be.

Your overall goal when generating new Blades is to end up with unique and distinct Blades like Ursula. The more Crowns that the Blade has, the more unique it is, and the stronger it will be. This means that you’ll essentially only want Blades with a lot of crowns, as these will be the most powerful.

You’ll also want to shoot for Blades that fit your playstyle. For example, while Ursula is a great Blade, she’s also a Healer. Which means you’re not going to want to use this Blade if you don’t enjoy Healer type characters and abilities. Try to make sure you’re equipping Blades with characters that make sense, as not every character will fit with every Blade. Doing so will also mean that your party is better configured, making you a much fiercer opponent in battle.

Getting new Blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 isn’t hard, but you will need to collect Core Crystals in order to generate new Blades, which means you’ll probably want to know the best ways to get Core Crystals.
