The limited-time Marvel Zombies mode has arrived in Marvel Rivals, unleashing a deadly swarm of undead foes for you to challenge in combat. To secure a victory, you’ll want to know which characters work best in this special mode.
The full roster of playable units isn’t available to help with the zombie invasion, so you’re working with limited choices here. Luckily, there are plenty of strong picks to choose from, so here are the best characters in the Marvel Zombies mode in Marvel Rivals.
All Marvel Zombies Characters Ranked from Worst to Best

There are five characters you can play as in the Marvel Zombies mode. None of them is really all that bad, as all recruits have strengths and weaknesses, but some are certainly easier to see great success with than others. Here are all five heroes ranked from worst to best.
5) Magik
The overall worst pick in this mode is Magik. She’s not bad, but she takes a lot more investment than all other characters to really see her full potential. She does have some cool perks, though, with one of the best parts of her skillset being that you can unlock the ability to permanently enter the Darkchild state early on, allowing you to slice through the battlefield with ease. Magik is also an absolute blast to play in this mode, so it’s certainly still worth giving her a try.
You’ll mainly run into issues with Magik during both of the boss fights. Zombie Namor spends a good chunk of his time flying around rapidly, and although you can reach him with your Stepping Discs, you usually can’t get many hits in before he moves again.

When you’re working on beating Scarlet Witch, Magik is in big trouble, as you need to be up close to deal effective damage with her kit, but the Queen of the Dead drains your health rapidly when you are. Overall, she’s not a bad pick by any means, but you’ll have a much easier time dealing damage and taking down foes when you’re playing as any other recruit. Although Magik isn’t amazing early on, she does scale really well and is a worthy hero to rely on in the harder difficulty mode.
4) Thor
The god of thunder doesn’t feel quite as godly as you would hope in this game mode, making him the second-worst character to choose, but Thor is still a pretty solid pick. He’s the only Vanguard you can play as, and his tanky health and overall survivability are the best parts of his skillset.
I felt safest when playing as Thor, as my health never dipped below 1,000, not even for a second. If you’re struggling to stay alive, he’s the perfect pick for you, as he’s got loads of health to keep you alive and an excellent Storm Surge movement ability that allows you to get out of tough situations with ease. His damage isn’t as amazing as most other recruits you can choose, but it’s still quite reliable, just like his health, making him an overall solid choice.
3) The Punisher
The Punisher is a zombie-slaying machine capable of sitting back and raining down devastating damage from afar. What’s especially great about his skillset in this mode is the ability to place down his turret separately, allowing you to still freely move around and shoot on your own while your trusty turret is also spraying enemies.
If you end up in a tough situation, he’s got you covered with his zipline, allowing you to swiftly zip away to safety in even the toughest battles. The Punisher is also super easy to use, master, and unleash high damage with if none of your usual mains are featured in this special mode.
2) Jeff

Jeff remains a seriously OP, adorable little monster capable of wreaking unbelievable havoc in this mode. He can spit relentlessly at enemies from afar, duck underground to tear through zombies with his fin, eat large masses of opponents at once, and heal with ease. Jeff is incredibly well-rounded and capable of handling any situation, making him one of the best heroes you can choose.
1) Blade
Blade might be known as a vampire killer, but I’m thinking he needs to rebrand as a zombie slayer after seeing how well he dominates this mode. He’s an absolute zombie-killing beast who is essentially immortal, making him the overall best hero you can play as in this mode.
His Ancestral Sword is the best weapon to stick to in this mode, as it slices through enemies like butter, allowing you to tear through masses with barely any effort at all. I’m by no means a Blade main, and have barely used him outside of this mode, but I felt truly unstoppable playing as him here. It’s also great that he has the option to swap to his Hunter’s Shotgun, especially during the Namor and Scarlet Witch boss battles, since you need to shoot from afar for a bit.

Despite being a Duelist, Blade feels like an OP Vanguard in this mode because you can essentially become immortal using his Bloodline Awakening ability. You basically have the means to obtain endless Lifesteal, which means you’ll be sitting with your health comfortably in the thousands. Fighting as Blade in Marvel Zombies is effortless, endlessly fun, and certainly the best way to secure a victory.
Who is the Best Character to Play in Marvel Zombies in Marvel Rivals?
Blade is the best character to choose in the Marvel Zombies mode. No other characters come close to his damage output, swiftness, immortality, and effectiveness in battle, especially as you upgrade him. All other characters are decent picks, and depending on your own personal playstyle preferences, you may personally be more effective with someone else, but if you want to work with the overall best of the best, Blade’s your guy.
