How To Unlock All Characters Absolum

Gotta Catch 'Em All!

There are four playable characters in Absolum, each with their own distinct play style, unique personality, and special abilities. Initially, you’ll have access to two of them but will need to unlock the rest and bring them over to the Sanctuary.

Here is how you can unlock each character in Absolum and complete the playable roster.

Cider

Cider will appear during your initial playthroughs, and you will share some dialogue with them. They are added to the party after you’ve beaten Gazog and encounter them during a combat sequence against Azra’s minions after you’ve met with the Goblin Elder.

Brome

To assist and unlock Brome, you first need to beat the Underking and set sail to Jordoa. Here, reach the fourth node, and you’ll finally come in contact with Brome at the fourth node.

Aid him in combat, and upon rescuing him, Brome will make his way back to the Sanctuary and become available as a playable character.

Best Beginner Character in Absolum

Each character in Absolum is viable for the initial playthrough, but if you want a well-rounded character who can deal massive damage, has great mobility, and is generally straightforward to play, it’s hard to go wrong with Galandra.

She’s available from the start, and you’ll likely pick her anyway. That’s not to discourage you from picking Karl, because he’s great and very fun to play with as well, but I found Galandra is designed to appeal to everyone and has a great pick-up and playstyle.

Cider and Brome are a bit more complex to use because of their specific play styles, but the core moveset is largely the same. There are no weak characters in Absolum.

  • If you like a sorcerer playstyle, then you’ll want to switch to Brome as soon as you unlock him. He’s pretty simple as well, and having that range helps a lot.
  • Cider has higher mobility with a focus on closing the distance and aerial attacks. They’re a fun character if you like jumping between enemies and keeping them in the air.

Do Characters Share Permanent Buffs and Bonuses?

Yes, all characters share the buffs provided by the Soul Tree in Absolum, and you only need to unlock their specific Arcana by interacting with Ederig the Stalwart.

This means that you don’t need to worry about a character being left behind in terms of actual strength, utility, and bonuses. Your crystals used at the Soul Tree have a positive impact on all, so you can switch to whatever character you want at the Sanctuary if you’re looking to experiment with them.

So, unlocking all these characters in Absolum is more about progressing through the game rather than fulfilling some vague, arbitrary conditions. The flexibility offered by the game means you aren’t locked to playing with a specific character, either, and are free to play with any of the four since they share passive buffs and bonuses.
