How to Increase a Digimon’s Level Cap in Digimon Story Time Stranger

Talent system, explained!

If you are new to Digimon, it’ll be hard to understand all the mechanics. In Digimon Story Time Stranger, talents, bonds, and personalities play a big role in a Digimon’s power.

You might also see a Digimon’s max level cap differ from one another. These features are all related, and here’s how you can increase a Digimon’s max level in DSTS.

How to Increase the Max Level of a Digimon in Digimon Story Time Stranger

The max level of a Digimon can go all the way up to 99, but it isn’t always at that level. You can have some Ultimate Digimon and have their max level capped at around 35-50.

This is because a Digimon’s max level cap is based on its Talent stat. If you look at the info page of a Digimon, you’ll see “Talent” just under the EXP bar and above their bond percentage.

The talent may look fixed, but it can increase when doing certain actions. Here are the five main ways of increasing a Digimon’s Talent:

  • Participate in battles.
  • Finish off an enemy.
  • Strike an enemy’s weak point.
  • Win a battle without taking damage.
  • Train at the farm.

You can catapult a Digimon’s talent by battling with them and letting them destroy everything. If you are trying to increase a weak Digimon, you can go to the Outer Dungeons and beat a stage that spawns a lot of weak Digimon or have a strong Digimon carry them throughout. They just need to participate in battles; finishing the enemy is just a bonus.

For example, you can run the Protect the Giant Digimeat outer dungeon, which requires you to just defend from a wave of around 30 enemies. If you have a strong Digimon in your party, you can still one-shot everything with a DigiAttack, giving you some easy EXP for your weak Digimons. It takes less than two minutes to finish a run, making it an amazing way to increase your talent as these counts as the DigiAttacks counts as finishing off an enemy.

You might notice that doing all the actions above does not even move the needle of your Digimon’s talent. This is because you’ll see the future talent value only when you start a Digivolution. You can select a Digimon and hover over a Digivolve. Select a Digivolution first so you can see the projected stats for the future Digimon, which will have the updated Talent stat on them.

Your goal is to max it out to 100 so your Digimon can reach up to level 99. When you start doing these talent farming strategies, you’ll naturally improve their bond as well.

Fastest Way to Increase Your Talent in Digimon Story Time Stranger

If you want a really quick way to get to the level cap, I’ve found that the Protect Giant Digimeat is one of the fastest ways to do it.

Since the stage spawns the enemies quickly and in decent numbers, you can finish the stage in less than two minutes. You’ll also get some useful Medical Spray DXs, money, and Friendship S.

Each Friendship S gives a 1% bond bonus to any Digimon, making it much easier to reach 100% bond. You can run this stage for around 20 minutes and max out five or six Digimon in your battle and reserve slots.

You can also find areas in the main story where you can use the same method. Look for areas with a lot of Digimon density, such as specific places in the Abyss Palace or a specific area in Shibuya (midgame). Go back and forth in an area to respawn the enemies. Turn the difficulty to “Story” so you can one-shot everyone with a DigiAttack. This could even be quicker than the Outer Dungeon method, but it is all up to you.

When you have your desired Digimon, don’t forget to set their personality to your liking to completely round out your powerful Digimon.
