Getting Anomaly Points is one of the most important parts of your power or progression in Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
These points give you powerful Agent skills, but its most useful feature is unlocking Digivolutions, making it a priority for some. Here’s a quick guide on how to get Anomaly Points in DSTS.
How to Increase Agent Rank in Digimon Story Time Stranger

To increase your Agent Rank, you must gain Anomaly Points and allocate them in your Agent Skill tree tab. Open your Digivice and go to the “Agent” menu and select “Agent Skills.”
You’ll see five categories of Agent Skills: Bonds of Loyalty, Bonds of Valor, Bonds of Philanthropy, Bonds of Amicability, and Bonds of Wisdom. Most of the Valor, Philanthropy, Amicability, and Wisdom skills revolve around personalities and stats.
Allocate any Anomaly Points you have to any of the skills to increase your Agent Rank. I’d suggest getting the EXP or leveling nodes in the Bonds of Loyalty tree (left side); these nodes are Agent Skills are always useful, especially for leveling Digimons.

Your Anomaly Points are always limited, so where do you get more of them? The only way to get Anomaly Points is through progressing in the main story and completing specific side missions that award Anomaly Points.
Each main story mission gives you Anomaly Points. There are even story missions that take you to cutscene after cutscene and just keep rewarding you with more and more Anomaly Points.
Can You Go Back to Finish Side Missions in Digimon Story Time Stranger?

Since these story missions are linear, your Anomaly Points will be limited. However, side missions are different. When you first get introduced to side missions, it’ll say you’ll have time to go back and finish them. The text says:
“Also, there is no need to stress out about side missions that could not be completed due to progressing in the main mission. The opportunity to complete them will come in due time.”
Now, that didn’t contain any spoilers, and to avoid spoiling anything, I highly suggest you complete all the side missions before proceeding.
Some of these side missions give Anomaly Points, and it takes a very long time before you can get back to other areas and timelines. Since Anomaly Points significantly affect your power, you want to go through these side missions.
As a sample scenario, you might find yourself fighting a boss in the Abyss or the Gear Forest and struggling to find any strong Digimons. Some Digivolutions are locked because you need to reach “Agent Rank 5” to get some Ultimate Digimons. Finishing the side missions with Anomaly Points as rewards pushes the needle a bit quicker, making your story progression easier.
