How To Unlock Each Costume in Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

This will take a while.

In an age where outfits and costumes are often afterthoughts locked behind microtransactions, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound makes you earn them by testing your skills. There are several different outfits for both characters that you can unlock during your playthroughs, each with specific and often challenging requirements.

Here is how you can unlock each outfit or costume in Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound for both Kenji and Kumori.

Unlock Each Costume for Kenji in Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

Apart from his default outfit, there are four additional costumes you can unlock for Kenji in Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.

CostumeUnlock RequirementIn-Game Art
Classic NinjaFinish the game on normal difficulty.
Mugen Tenshin NinjaComplete mission 5-1, which is only available in Hard mode.
The Penitent OneCollect 60 Crystal Skulls in Hard Mode.
Golden ShadowComplete the game on Normal difficulty with S-ranks (or better) in each stage.

Unlock Each Costume for Kumori in Ninja Gaiden Ragebound

Similarly, apart from her default outfit, there are four additional costumes you can unlock for Kumori in Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.

CostumeUnlock RequirementIn-Game Art
Black Spider UniformFinish the game on normal difficulty.
Runaway NinjaComplete mission 5-1, which is only available in Hard mode.
Biker StyleCollect 60 Crystal Skulls in Hard Mode.
Golden AssassinComplete the game on Hard difficulty with S-ranks (or better) in each stage.

It will be a while before you can unlock every outfit, and while you don’t get a dedicated achievement for unlocking all eight different costumes, the satisfaction is unmatched.

The Golden Assassin outfit in particular is tough to unlock since you need to S-rank every single main mission and secret op. If you are struggling to get s-ranks, you can equip the following Talismans to get a higher rank at the cost of some disadvantage:

TalismanEffect
No Rest for the WickedDeath brings the bearer back to the beginning of the stage. Rank increased by 1.
PerilousnessDamage received is tripled. Rank is increased by 1.
UnworthyCheckpoints do not recover health. Rank increased by 1.
ScarcityHealth orbs are removed from levels. Rank increased by 1.

This also confirms the purpose of Crystal Skulls, which are more than just collectibles, but directly contribute to outfit unlock progress. Additionally, finishing each mission on S++ does not unlock any additional outfit, as confirmed by Reddit user pepincity2.

I’m very happy with how The Game Kitchen has handled the outfit unlocks. It gives players even more incentive to replay the game, get higher ranks, try out the harder difficulty, and unlock additional endings.
