Outlast 2 – How to Heal and Find Bandages

Learn more about the healing system in Outlast 2.
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Outlast 2 isn’t your typical game, and users won’t have to heal a whole lot unless they get caught often. At this moment in time, healing only comes into play when you’re severely wounded by enemies, which can be avoided quite a bit depending on how good you are at stealth gameplay. In this article we’ll discuss how to find bandages in Outlast 2 and when you should use them. Likewise, we’ll cover how to heal in Outlast 2.

How to Heal

Healing in Outlast 2 is extremely simple. You don’t have a health bar so to speak, so for the most part you can completely ignore the health system until you are given a warning about it. Most times one hit from an enemy weapon will wear your health down enough to need healing. But, sometimes, if you’re lucky, you won’t have to heal unless you end up bleeding due to the hit.

You can pick up the bleeding trait from enemies with sharp weapons like machetes and knives. Normally these enemies are the most dangerous, so watch out for them. You’ll receive warnings on the screen when you need to heal.

How to Find Bandages

Finding bandages in Outlast 2 is about as easy as learning how to find batteries. There’s no tried and true method, and your camera doesn’t have any sort of battery or bandage detector. Instead, you’ll have to look for glowing items. Usually, though, bandages are inside of open first aid boxes, which makes them a bit easier to spot. We also detail some places that you can find bandages and batteries in our Outlast 2 walkthrough, so be sure to check that out if you’re having trouble.

As you progress through the game, finding bandages will get harder. Don’t sweat it too much, though, as you shouldn’t need these items that much, if you’re careful. One way to limit the number of bandages you’re using is to simply let yourself die when you are seriously injured. This does force you to replay a bit of the game, but it will save you in the long run as you won’t have to waste your bandages on a silly mistake.

Now that you know about healing, and how you can spot bandages in Outlast 2, be sure to head back over to our Outlast 2 game hub where we have plenty of other guides to help you along your journey. We’ll also be updating our guide quite frequently, so be sure to check back often for new information and the most up to date guides available.
