How To Repair Your Vehicle in The Precinct

Keep it shiny.

In The Precinct, you’ll engage in numerous car chases and pursuits through the crime-ridden streets of Averno, which can leave your vehicle in rough shape as you smash through poles, barriers, and other cars. That’s why it’s important to repair your vehicle regularly to keep it in one piece.

Whether you’ve commandeered a civilian vehicle or are driving your trusty patrol car, repairing your ride in The Precinct is a routine task you’ll quickly get used to.

Repairing Your Vehicle in The Precinct

To repair your damaged vehicle in The Precinct, you need to drive through an Auto Repair Shop located at various points in the open world. This will repair the vehicle fully, including any tire or body damage.

Here is how this works:

  • If your vehicle has taken damage during a chase or after it, bring up the map and locate the wrench icon. This is the map icon for the Auto Repair Shop.
  • Put a marker on it, and make your way to one of the many repair shops in the area.
  • Ideally, you want to go to one close to your location so you don’t lose the suspect’s vehicle in the process.
  • Go through the Auto Repair Shop, and it will repair the car in a few seconds, even though it’s actually washing it. Doesn’t matter, it works.

While this is a painless process and doesn’t cost anything, there are scenarios where ordering a new patrol car can be much more effective, as it’s pretty fast. I recommend repairing vehicles that you have commandeered from a civilian if you like them a lot.

For instance, some of the civilian cars are much faster than your standard patrol car, but since it’s a regular vehicle, you can’t order it again and will have to keep an eye out for it. If that car is damaged in a pursuit or patrol, then it’s a better option to repair it so you can keep driving it. Having a faster car can make pursuits much easier, especially early on when all you have is a standard patrol car.

How To Order a New Patrol Car in The Precinct

In my experience, it’s easier to order a new patrol car in The Precinct instead of repairing it. This is a pretty simple process as well:

  • Hold RB to bring up the Radio dial.
  • Select the “New Patrol Vehicle” option on the left, and a new Patrol car will spawn very close to you.

To summarize, if you have commandeered a vehicle and like it, the best option to maintain it is by repairing it through the auto repair shop; however, for a standard patrol car, I recommend calling in a new one, as it’s just faster.
