How to Transfer Your State of Decay Xbox 360 Save to Xbox One

Upload your save to the cloud and play State of Decay from where you left off.

Today marks the release of Microsoft’s State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition for Xbox One.  Undead Labs’ thrilling zombie survival game first appeared on Xbox 360 in 2013, allowing players the chance to scavenge Trumbull Valley while forming a band of computer-controlled survivors, fortifying a base and of course, splattering zombies with a variety of weapons.  It was the closest thing to DayZ on console but from a single-player perspective, and despite being a bit rough around the virtual edges, the game was still a blast and wound up breaking Xbox Live records with over one million copies sold.

We love State of Decay but never finished the game, which is why the Xbox One edition piqued our interest. Not only does it feature improved graphics and 1080p resolution, but also both DLC packs (Breakdown, Lifeline) and new challenges to complete.

With this in mind, there’s a good chance you have a State of Decay save file on your Xbox 360 system. Thankfully the developers at Undead Labs will let you transfer this save file to the Xbox One version.

To do this, power on your Xbox 360 and boot State of Decay. Agree to update the game and then look for the option to transfer saves on the main menu. Do this successfully and the save file gets uploaded to the cloud. Now download the game for Xbox One, fire it up and grab the file from cloud storage. Despite the handful of improvements and content in this version, you’ll be able to start playing where you left off.

Of course, if you have not played State of Decay, the Year-One Survival Edition is a must buy, especially if you enjoyed Dying Light. Just keep in mind that you cannot carry as much loot at one time, and making noise is bad for your health.
