Waystones are the lifeblood of Path of Exile 2’s endgame. Without them, you are cutting your own legs off regarding progression since this is where all the loot and upgrades will come from. Farming and sustaining these Waystones is, without a doubt, the most important thing to do when stepping into the endgame. It is rough initially, but once you get a farming strategy down, getting Waystones becomes easier and easier. Here’s the best Waystone farming strategy in Path of Exile 2.
How to Get Waystones in Path of Exile 2
Waystones drop from all types of monsters. They can also drop from destroying destructible objects and opening chests in maps. You can treat Waystones as an “uncommon” drop in the general loot table, so you just want to eliminate all the enemies inside a map and try your best to improve the “quantity of items found” stat as much as possible.
You can get more quantity rolls or bonuses from Precursor Tablet buffs from Lost Towers or your Atlas Passive Tree. However, this is easier said than done because starting in the endgame, you start literally from nothing and work your way up.
You want to buy all the Tier 1-5 Waystones from Doryani’s shop to help sustain your Waystones or mapping in the early endgame. That’s the best way to get Waystones early in the endgame since they only cost gold. You can skip a few Waystone tiers by buying higher ones from other players. This could give you that extra boost to sustain enough Waystones of different tiers to finish your endgame quest, Cataclysm’s Wake.
It is also worth mentioning that you can reforge Waystones using the Reforging Bench in your hideout. Three Waystones of the same tier will upgrade to one Waystone of the next tier.

When you unlock mapping and start earning some Atlas skill points from the Cataclysm’s Wake, you should prioritize these buffs:
- Waystones found have 10% chance of being a tier higher.
- Constant Crossroads – 20% increased quantity of Waystones found in your maps.
- Increased quantity of Waystones found in your maps.
- Deadly Evolution – Rare and unique monsters in your maps have 1 to 2 additional modifiers.
- The High Road – Waystones found have 20% chance to be a tier higher.
- Lucky Pillage – 5% increased quantity of items and 8% increased rarity of items found in your maps.
All these nodes contribute significantly to your Waystone farm. You can check the image above for a priority order. The only variation to the order is pathing to Lucky Pillage and the tiny Waystones nodes near the Precursor Influence node before getting Deadly Evolution.
Once you have enough Atlas skill points, you can respec the Lucky Pillage and other nodes to get Deadly Evolution. Since rare and unique monsters typically offer you the best and biggest loot, you want to buff them with Deadly Evolution to increase their natural quantity of items drop modifier.
These nodes or buffs progressively get more rewarding as you increase your Waystone map tiers. As long as your build can handle the higher Waystone tiers, you should be self-sustaining your Waystones while stockpiling a few lower-tier Waystones to reforge to the higher tier.
Keep doing this, and you’ll finish Cataclysm’s Wake quickly. Just avoid dying and wasting Waystones. Multiple deaths could set you back a few Waystones and force you to spend Exalted Orbs to buy more.
