NBA 2K’s MyCareer mode is always shrouded in mystery, but it always revolves around creating your own player and having that player experience a story 2K cooked up for the year. NBA 2K25’s MyCareer mode has a different twist, as it gives players an option to experience what it takes to get to the NBA and what to do once you have made it. However, do you go through the process of an NBA Draft when playing NBA 2K25’s MyCareer mode? Let’s find out.
Will NBA 2K25’s MyCareer Mode Have an NBA Draft?
NBA 2K25’s MyCareer mode immediately starts with a meeting with your agent, coach, and team owner. You’ll choose a team and start in the NBA right away. So, to answer the question quickly, no, you don’t go through an NBA draft in NBA 2K25’s MyCareer mode.
However, the game introduces you to a new optional mode called “Heart of a Dynasty.” Relieve the past by experiencing your journey and how you made it to the NBA in this NBA 2K edition. You’ll start playing in a high school match against a rival, and every cliché story 2K has made over the decade and eventually go to the NBA.
You can ignore this mode and skip straight to MyCareer. After you start playing some games, you’ll hear some remarks from the commentators and media about how you are the most exciting rookie or how you have the best potential among any rookie ever. In a way, you are treated like a number #1 draft pick, even if you didn’t go through a draft.
You’ll have to work your way to get some more minutes and eventually become a starter for your chosen team. This will be a tough challenge, especially if you choose a good team with a superstar player playing the same position as you. While 2K didn’t invest in an NBA Draft or a combine for NBA 2K25, you’ll see some storylines pop up after playing a few MyCareer games.
