It looks even better at ultrawide.

Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is finally available on PC, and consoles, and it’s the long-awaited Metroidvania adventure from Metamorphosis Games. Inspired by 16 and 32-bit classics Gestalt: Steam & Cinder is a gorgeous game that looks great no matter what platform you’re playing it on. However, it doesn’t have official ultrawide support, but thankfully, a patch by Rose from the widescreen community fixes the Gestalt: Steam & Cinder ultrawide issues on PC by adding support to it.

Known Issues

As of writing, there are a few minor issues with the patch, which will likely be addressed in a future update.

  • The camera is occasionally framed imperfectly and gets zoomed in to the width of very tight rooms until having gone through a doorway.
  • Some UI elements are misaligned and overlap (with nothing game-breaking noted).
  • At least one vignette effect will not span the screen (though the level is short).
  • The upgrades screen cursor is slightly harder to control because of its brief duplication.
  • Some status menu captions (like Play Time) are not shown at 32:9.

Despite these minor issues, it’s still better than no ultrawide support. We hope that adding support for these resolutions is in the plans, but for now, this is your best bet.
