How to Unlock the Viper Job in FFXIV: Dawntrail

I am speed!

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is now available, and there are two new DPS jobs to try out. One of these is the Viper job, which wields two blades that can be combined into one larger weapon. This melee-focused job capitalizes on close-quarter combat, fast attacks, and applying debuffs while making good use of Viper’s agility. If that sounds like the job you want to pursue, here is how you can unlock the Viper job in FFXIV: Dawntrail.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Viper Quest Location

To unlock the Viper Job, you need to accept the quest called “Enter the Viper” by interacting with the event NPC, the Worried Weaver, who can be found in the Uldah – Steps of Nald (X: 9.3 Y: 9.2).

The “Enter the Viper” quest is fairly straightforward and you will receive the following rewards for completing it.

  • Soul of the Viper
  • Weathered Snakebite Attire Coffer (IL 515)
  • Weathered Twinfangs
  • XP: 224400

Completing this quest will also allow you to take on more Viper-related quests in the Dawntrail expansion.

Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail Viper Requirements

To unlock the Viper Job in FFXIV: Dawntrail, you need to make sure you fulfill the following requirements.

  • You own the Dawntrail expansion, and it’s linked to your account
  • Your character has a Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic job at level 80

That’s all you need to do, and you can continue on your journey with one of the most visually satisfying jobs so far. The moveset is fantastic with tons of new animations, and skills to try out.

If a melee-focused job isn’t what you’re looking for, the new Pictomancer Job focuses on ranged magic combat and is a lot of fun to play around with.
