How to Unlock and Equip Facewear in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

To unlock Facewear in Final Fantasy XIV, you first need to purchase it from the NPCs or the Market Board in the town. Here are some places from where you can buy the Facewear:

  • Bango Zango in Lominsa Lomsa – Lower Decks (X:9.9, Y:11.4)
  • Maisenta in New Gridania (X:11.5, Y:11.2)
  • Roarich in Ul’dah – The Steps of Nald (X:10.6, Y:9.5)
  • Gold Saucer Attendant in The Gold Saucer (X:5.1, Y:6.6)
  • Trisassant in Old Sharlayan (X:12.0, Y:13.3)

Once you have the Facewear you want, you can equip it using the Character Equipment Window by clicking the Facewear icon. It will display a box on the right where you can select the style and one of the 12 colors.

How to Convert Your Old Spectacles to Facewear in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

If you already owned Spectacles before the release of the Dawntrail expansion but cannot equip them now, it is because the Spectacles are now their own thing after Patch 7.0. These are now called Facewear, and you will find them in shops such as ‘The Faces We Wear,’ followed by the item name.

To be able to equip them, you will first need to convert them to Facewear. To do that, visit any Calamity Salvager and choose “Spectacles Exchange” from the list to convert all your Spectacles to the new Facewear. Doing this will not cost you anything, so make sure you perform this step to be able to use your old Spectacles after the latest patch.

Here are some locations where you can find Calamity Salvagers:

  • Old Gridania (X:10.0, Y:8.4)
  • Limsa Lominsa – Upper Decks (X:11.4, Y:14.4)
  • Ul’dah – The Steps of Thal (X:12.6, Y:13.1)

And that is all you need to do to unlock Facewear in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail after Patch 7.0. If you want to try out the new magical ranged DPS job in Final Fantasy XIV, look at our How To Unlock The Pictomancer Job In FFXIV: Dawntrail guide.
