Will Path of Exile 2 Have Character Creation? – Answered

A character all your own or what?

I love customization in my video games. From tweaking the appearance and functionality of a weapon to crafting the perfect build in an ARPG to customizing my character’s appearance in story-based titles for that added bit of personalization, it’s all welcome! But will Path of Exile 2 have character creation?

Can You Create a Character in Path of Exile 2?

In the first Path of Exile, you were able to pick one of a handful of premade characters, each with a unique model. It’s the same for Path of Exile 2. You cannot create a character in the traditional manner, but you can choose your class and then customize your build significantly through active and pass skills, armor and weapons, and cosmetics.

That said, Grinding Gear Games spent a lot of time reworking the character models for the sequel. Every character is now a higher resolution and allows for dynamic movement, with a brand-new rigging system to improve the overall physical of your weapons and armor. This system also enables higher-quality and more realistic cosmetics from the microtransaction store, which is definitely going to be a thing in the sequel.

Will Path of Exile 2 Have Cosmetic Microtransactions?

Absolutely! It’s said that any of your purchases made from the original Path of Exile microtransaction store will transfer over to Path of Exile 2. We’re unsure whether this means everything or just certain convenience items, like stash tabs, as the new character models in Path of Exile 2 appear vastly improved over its predecessor.

Either way, Path of Exile 2 will heavily rely on microtransactions upon release, especially cosmetic armor sets, and unique add-ons, such as wings and pets, to fund future game development. The first game does the same, and many of the available items prove exceptionally high quality. We’re excited to see what’s next for Path of Exile 2’s armor cosmetics!
