This year is proving rather fruitful in terms of upcoming games, with this fall especially slated to be jam-packed full of hot releases. But there’s a free-to-play title that has my attention—Path of Exile 2. It’s supposedly launching to Early Access sometime this year, but when is the Path of Exile 2 release date?
When Can We Play Path of Exile 2?
Originally, developer Grinding Gear Games planned a playtest period starting June 7 for Path of Exile 2, but the team delayed the beta. Instead, they’ll aim to launch beta access to Path of Exile 2 sometime by the end of 2024, with the full release of the game following this final playtest. As such, we expect the free-to-play ARPG to be released fully sometime in early 2025.
Speaking at ExileCon 2023, game director Jonathan Rogers said, “We’re incredibly excited to near the finish line, but we are not quite there yet. We’re determined not to rush this, and make sure we get it right.”
How Do You Access the Path of Exile 2 Beta?
Unfortunately, Grinding Gear Games has not provided any information regarding how to gain access to the Path of Exile 2 beta. It’s definitely going out to content creators and some of the media. GGG favors the former, and many have had a chance to play the game in its current state recently.
For everyone else, there are no sign-ups currently available for the beta, and you can’t buy into the game’s Early Access. We’ll have to wait to hear more about how beta sign-ups work, whether anyone can join, or whether we must buy a bundle or microtransactions from the current Path of Exile shop to be eligible for entry.
Which of the twelve classes will you play first? I’m leaning toward a Ranger following the intense gameplay trailer we previously saw. However, the newly-revealed Witch does look thrilling, too!
