Baldur’s Gate 3 has one of the best systems in action when it comes to having the ability to transfer progression across multiple platforms. Instead of having to create different adventures on PC and consoles, players can actually pick up from where they left off in a given system. Here’s how to transfer your save files in BG3.
Does Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Have Shared Progression?
Yes, Larian’s latest RPG allows players to continue the same save file on different platforms. However, this requires a few extra steps and is only possible as long as someone is using the same account. Transferring progress across different accounts is possible, but it can only be done on PC (so we’ll avoid discussing that in this article).
How to Share Your Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Progress Across PC and Consoles?
Let’s assume you started playing the game on your PC (since this was the first platform of choice for Larian). The game is now available on both PS5 and Xbox Series XlS consoles, and shared progression is available on all platforms. This makes life lot easier for anyone wishing to play on different consoles.
- Start your game on PC.
- Create a Larian account from within the game (if you have one, just login)
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll to Gameplay options
- Turn on Cross-Save and make sure your progression is saved (wait for the sync to complete on PC).
- Turn on your game on the console of your choice.
- Login into your Larian account.
- Restart the game on your console.
- You’ll find the option to Continue. Press Continue to resume from where you left off on your PC.
Do note that your system must be connected to the internet, and the sync will complete (simply manually saving the progression won’t be enough to enjoy cross-save).
That’s all you need to do to enjoy a shared progression across multiple devices. Do note that you’ll need to own a copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) separately if you play on more than one platform.
