How to Catch Leafstalker Mantis in Palia

Tamala wants this bug, and she's going to get it

There’s no shortage of bugs in Palia, but some are simply rarer than others. And the Leafstalker Mantis only has a 10% spawn rate, unless you happen to have a high-quality belt. Tamala is worth any amount of bugs. Here’s how to find a Leafstalker Mantis in Palia.

How to Find Leafstalker Mantis in Palia

The most consistent place to find Leafstalk Mantises in Palia is in Bahari Bay, just north of the Flooded Fortress. This is a sprawling area, but don’t worry. The actual spawn points of the Leafstalker Mantis are much, much smaller. Leafstalker Mantises only naturally spawn in Palia when you pick up Sweet Leaves and Dari Cloves. Sweet Leaves are a relatively common herb in Bahari Bay, whereas Dari Clove is an epic level gatherable.

While Dari Cloves are very rare, Sweet Leaves still require you to put in a lot of footwork. I’d say only 10 or so spawn in the area marked on this map. Each time you pick up a Sweet Leaf or Dari Cloves, there’s a base chance of 10% that a Leafstalker Mantis will spawn.

But you can improve your odds. You can use a Honey Lure, which will cause bugs to spawn in your area. The Honey Lure will spawn between 0 and 5 epic bugs, 5 – 10 rare bugs, and 100 bugs of a common type. However, Honey Lures are very expensive to produce. You can purchase them from Auni once you reach level 7 in Bug Catching for 2,000 gold. Or you can craft one yourself using gold ingots and apples, which you’ll need to produce yourself. You can also forage at the same time as others, which is reputed to increase the odds of the Leafstalker Spawning. However, I’ve yet to find concrete proof that this is true.

Once a Leafstalker Mantis has spawned, be prepared to throw multiple smoke bombs at it. It’ll put up a struggle! But once you do catch it, you’ll likely get +3 Silk Thread to go along with your catch. Also worth noting is that because the Leafstalker Mantis is green, it can be very easy to miss, especially at night.

Despite the difficulties, the Leafstalker Mantis is well worth it to romance Tamala. And if you’re still up for a challenge, you might want to try catching the rare Mutated Angler next.
