State of Decay Walkthrough – Grange Missions

Help out the survivors in this west side enclave
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

Located on the west side of the map is an enclave of survivors who will periodically need help. Seeing as how we’re practically neighbors, especially if you relocated your “Home” to the Snyder Trucking Warehouse, we should do the neighborly thing and help them out. Plus, we’ll need to have some neighbors if we ever need to borrow a cup of sugar after this is all over.

Keep in mind that some of these missions will NOT show up as soon as a previous one is completed. If they don’t show up, spend time collecting resources, clearing out the town of infestations, and helping survivors. If there are too many infestations and survivors in need of help, it will slow down new mission occurrences.

If they don’t show up, spend time collecting resources, clearing out the town of infestations, and helping survivors. Mission: Stranger in Trouble

As usual, Lily will notify you that someone is in need of help. Head to the west portion of the map to find that a group of survivors have established a base of their own. It appears that one of the survivors of this group is MIA, and you offer your assistance in finding them.

Head to the buildings indicated on the map and take out the zeds. Search through the buildings one by one until you eventually find the lone survivor hiding out. Bring the survivor back to complete this mission.

Mission: Helping with the Fortifications

It seems Becca is not pleased with their defenses and requests your help in bringing them up to snuff. Before heading over, make sure you stock up on healing items and weapons as there will be a large fight very soon.

When you arrive, you are tasked with protecting the survivors who are building the watchtower. Take care of the zeds that attack, and eventually you will be told that the survivor who is bringing the supplies needed to construct the tower is under attack and in need of help. Head to the nearby shed indicated by the new mission marker and protect the survivor with the rucksack. Be aware that this survivor can be killed. It will not cause the mission to fail, but this survivor will be gone for good.

Once they are in the clear, you need to defend the survivors building the tower once again. Repeat the same process as before until the mission is over.

Mission: A Discreet Request

It seems Quentin has a little crush on Becca but, due to the Sheriff calling Becca by a different name at the end of the previous mission, he is unsure if she is who she claims to be. He requests your help in finding out the truth by talking with Sheriff Carl in Marshall.

Drive over to the Courthouse in Marshall to discover that Carl is out hunting a very dangerous zed. Looks like you’re about to be his backup. Search the indicated mission marker to find Carl, and then assist him on his hunt for the dangerous zed. Once the feral zed is taken care of, Carl reveals the truth about Becca.

You now have two options on how to finish this mission: tell Quentin the truth (bad) or don’t (good). The “good” option ends on a MUCH happier note, so I recommend going this route:

If you choose to tell Quentin that the past is in the past, he agrees and informs Becca of his feelings for her. Ah, love, even during a zombie apocalypse, can still flourish.

The “bad” option is as follows:

If you choose to tell Quintin the truth, he will run off to have some time alone. If you return to this area at a later time, you will witness Quentin confront Becca about who she really is, and he will run off again. Later on, you will be notified that Quentin still has not returned. Once you locate Quentin and begin to drive him back to his enclave, a disturbing call will come in from Becca, stating that they are under attack by, surprisingly, not zeds, but men with guns! When you arrive, it is too late to save Becca and Quentin is heartbroken.
