How to Enable Arachnophobia Mode in Nightingale

Spiders begone

Many recent games are aware of how many gamers struggle with their own phobias while trying to play new titles, and Nightingale has fortunately given them a pat on the back. The game features an Arachnophobia mode to make things more bearable for them, and here’s how to activate it.

How to Activate Arachnophobia Mode in Nightingale

Arachnophobia mode is easily accessible to players as soon as they start the game. Press Tab to open the menu, then head to the Settings tab. Select Video and mark the Enable Arachnophobia Mode checkbox, and finally Apply your changes. That’s it!

From now on, any possible spider-like enemies will show up as exaggeratedly inflated balloons with wings, resembling giant bees more than actual spiders, but still easily recognizable. Here’s a display of how they should be in-game.

The chances of running into a spider early in the game before you have the chance to enable this mode are also quite slim. There are no spiders to be seen in the initial tutorial sections, and these enemies are more commonly found in slightly further points of the game, so don’t worry about being suddenly jumpscared by those eight-legged demons.

You can just enable it for fun even if you don’t feel particularly bad about spiders. These ugly balloons look goofy enough to give you a small chuckle from time to time but still immediately alert you of the imminent danger they present, especially if you don’t have enough gear just yet.

Nightingale is currently on Early Access for PC, available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players have reported having some DirectX12 problems while logging into the game, but fortunately, there are some turnarounds for those. Also, make sure you’re running in the best Graphical settings available if you’re looking for the best surviving experience possible.
