How long is the grind?

Typically speaking, the journey proves most interesting in an RPG, but an ARPG thrives most in its end game. So, how long does it take to reach the max level in Last Epoch?

What is the Max Level in Last Epoch?

Do you remember the days when the max level in an RPG was significantly lower? It still took a long time to reach the top in any game, but nowadays, it’s nothing for an ARPG to hit level 100. And that’s precisely the case with Last Epoch. The max level is 100, so prepare for quite the grind!

However, one good thing about leveling up in the game is that you receive a buff each time. Every level in Last Epoch grants you:

  • +5 Health.
  • +1 Health Per Potion Use.
  • 1 Passive Point (after level 3).
  • Specialization Slots at Levels 3, 9, 19, 34, and 49.
  • Unique, Class-dependent Skills.

How Long to Reach Max Level in Last Epoch

Speaking of reaching that point, it will take approximately 70 hours to reach the max level in Last Epoch. Of course, this number will vary per person, depending on playstyle, character build, and the amount of free time someone has to dedicate to a single game. Some folks wind up reaching the max level within a week; others, however, spend much longer.

One important note is that, like in Diablo 4, you will spend significantly more time between levels 80-100 than in 1-80. Once you reach level 80, that’s considered part of the end game, and it’s more of a grind than the previous levels.

The thing to remember about an ARPG like Last Epoch, despite an overwhelming focus on meta builds and playstyles, is that the grind is part of the fun. And fun is the entire point of any video game. So, take your time. Enjoy the ride to 100!

Tips to Reach Max Level in Last Epoch

To reach this level, you must gain experience. It’s the way of the RPG. But it’s slightly different in an ARPG compared to a more traditional role-playing game, which usually involves quests and characters to interact with. Last Epoch has both, but the game revolves around earning XP by killing mobs and toppling bosses.

  • Campaign: As you progress through the game’s campaign, you’ll unlock additional quests, eventually open up the Arena and Monolith of Faith, and tackle countless bosses that boost your experience significantly. And that’s not to mention the occasionally overwhelming number of mobs you’ll face on your journey through the level. How fast can you clear a map?
  • Arena: You can farm the game’s Arenas for XP, defeating waves of progressively more difficult mobs. The stronger the mob, the more XP you receive. If you’re confident in your class, you can run through an Arena in mere minutes and then repeat the process.
  • Monolith of Faith: Once you unlock the Monolith of Faith, clearing an Echo provides XP for simply participating in the content. Some, however, offer Tomes that boost your XP gain, supplying you with a bonus for clearing mobs. You will unlock your first Monolith, Fall of the Outcasts, at level 58, and then a new one every few levels until you hit level 90 when the remaining Monoliths unlock.
  • Shrines: Like in Diablo 4, occasional Shrines appear around the map. Some offer buffs to your damage or resistance, but a few offer XP gain boosts. Whenever possible, interact with a Shrine to make clearing a level easier. You want the Experience Shrine most, which grants an increased experience gain of 50% for 60 seconds.

To help you level up quickly, you’ll want to configure loot filters in Last Epoch to sift through the junk items and only scoop up the rare weapons and armor.
