When speaking to Eurogamer at Quakecon this week, Valve’s Chet Faliszeck said “Really we just want to make sure that when it’s released it’s great”.

While you might be hurt, shocked, upset, dying inside etc don’t worry, because the game’s currently looking fantastic even now, and this delay, Valve insists, is for the greater good (if you consider the greater good to be zombie apocalypse, which we, of course, do).

In other exciting Left 4 Dead news: Valve have been hinting at freeplay weekends to help promote the game. When asked about the idea of a free to play weekend on release Faliszeck said “All that’s been talked about and bandied about, and I can’t say if we’re going to do one thing or the other yet. But definitely Steam allows us to do things on the PC side that no other developer can do, and we definitely don’t ignore that”.

Left 4 Dead saw a constant two-hour queue at Quakecon, according to Valve, who said that the massive reaction was “humbling”.

Check back at the Left 4 Dead hub for more news and more previews very soon.
