How Dice Work on Death Must Die? – Answered

It was never luck

Getting the right build is everything in Death Must Die, but sometimes lady luck just isn’t on our side. That’s why we can cheat it out by using the many dice and rolls we get through our playthroughs, and here is how each of them works.

How Rerolling Blessings Works in Death Must Die

You can get three types of dice in Death Must Die: the Reroll Dice, the Alteration Dice, and the Banish Dice. Each of them is unique in their uses, although they can often be obtained similarly.

Reroll Dice

Rerolls your current three Blessings for three random Blessings from the same god. Repeated Blessings can reappear in the new selection.

Alteration Dice

Rerolls your current three Blessings for three other Blessings from a different God.

Banish Dice

Banishes your selecting Blessing from the selection and makes it so that it won’t appear again.

Much like in Hades, you can use your dice to have some control over which type of build you want to go with during this run. Since we don’t know which bonus we’re getting in each level, the Alteration Dice works just like choosing a different door or rerolling its reward. But the biggest difference is being able to completely remove a blessing from appearing.

If you’re just looking for that final Mort Blessing that complements your build perfectly, you can target one of her other Blessings and remove it completely, increasing your chances to get the desired one when you reroll. It still involves some RNG layers, but it’s amazingly useful as you don’t have any other ways of avoiding useless Blessings.

How to Get Dice in Death Must Die

Dice can be obtained by interacting with certain items on the field, by picking certain Moirai Blessings or by using Equipment pieces that give you extra dice. The latter is the most consistent option, but it will certainly take you a while before you get some good extra dice equipment that’s worth using and that can actually help you manipulate your build.

It’s definitely worth chasing for those, though, so keep your eyes on the shop whenever you can. This is the closest you can get in the game to cheating, so use this mechanic to your advantage and finally reach and kill Death itself (or at least some of its minions).
