It’s hard to believe that Xbox Live, the first fully functioning online game network (sorry, Dreamcast, we know you tried with SegaNet), is ten years old. But Microsoft and Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb are definitely hyping the anniversary, and you get to reap the rewards.
The company is offering the Kinect cannon-shooting game Wreckateer free of charge for a limited time, as well as a special 10th anniversary gamer picture, which, by downloading, also enters you into a contest where you can win a customized Xbox 360 console, like the one we mentioned previously in the news.
Not only that, but you can grab some great deals on Xbox Live’s most popular games. Castle Crashers and Bastion can be yours for 600 Microsoft points each; Full House Power, Peggle and Fruit Ninja Kinect are yours for the picking at 400 Microsoft points each; and Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, one of Xbox Live’s first hit games for the 360, is only 200 Microsoft points.
The only thing missing is cake. But aren’t these rewards sweet enough?
