Legendary Entertainment has hired Morgan Davis Foehl, a relatively inexperienced screenwriter, to work on the still-coming Mass Effect movie, a Variety report suggests.

Foehl is yet to write a screenplay to make it to cinema but a previous effort, Whatever Gets You Through the Night gained him a spot in the prestigious Hollywood Black List.

The real clout behind Foehl’s appeal was the fact he’s a massive Mass Effect fan and has written scripts for action movies with “a strong espionage bent”. Crosshair is one such example, an adaptation of the Top Cow comic under development by Summit.

The Mass Effect script was previously written by Mark Protosevich, the man behind the Thor and I Am Legend screenplays.

The Mass Effect film has Thomas Till, Jon Jashni, Ari Arad and Avi Arad (the Marvel Studios founder no less) on board as producers. Casey Hudson, the Mass Effect exec producer, is taking the same position on the Mass Effect movie alongside BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk.
