Microsoft Ditches Facebook and Twitter Apps From Xbox 360

Encourages Internet Explorer use instead

Microsoft has taken the Facebook and Twitter Xbox 360 apps out the back and put them to sleep.

The technology giant recently released an overhaul of the dashboard, which in turn removed the applications from the app marketplace. The new dashboard is apparently at “pre-launch” phase, with just 3 million users plus the beta testers currently using the update.

“We are retiring the Facebook and Twitter apps,” Microsoft said in a statement. “Xbox Live subscribers will have the ability to access these sites through Internet Explorer on Xbox, available through the Web Hub located on the new dashboard.”

Did you use the apps in the first place? Did anyone? Usage details would be great but do let us know.
