Should You Buy Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition? – Answered

Deluxe horrors?

Alan Wake 2’s release is fast approaching, set to hit PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 27. With that, naturally comes a handful of choices. You’ll need to decide which platform you want to play the game on, as well as which edition you want to purchase. Here’s whether you should buy the Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2.

Is the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition Worth Buying?

The Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition costs around $20 more and comes with the following content (alongside the base game of course):

  • Expansion Pass
    • Includes the Night Springs and Lake House expansions, and the Nordic shotgun skin for Saga
  • Crimson Windbreaker for Saga
  • Celebrity Suit for Alan
  • Parliament Shotgun Skin for Alan
  • Lantern Charm for Saga

While most of the cosmetics don’t have any effect on gameplay, the Lantern Charm for Saga will provide an additional battery for Saga’s flashlight. Otherwise, all other cosmetics don’t give gameplay benefits. We also don’t know right now if these cosmetics are earnable in-game, though will update this post when we know more.

As for whether all that is worth it, it seems like it could be if you’re confident you’ll enjoy Alan Wake 2. The same deal for Control back when it was released resulted in around seven additional hours of content across its expansions. That’s not too shabby for $20, especially when you include those cosmetic bonuses.

Do You Get Anything for Getting the Alan Wake 2 Standard Edition?

No matter which edition you purchase, pre-ordering the game before its October 27 release will grant you the following rewards:

  • Ornate Revolver Skin for Alan
  • Survival Resources Pack for Saga
  • Oh Deer Diner Sweater

The first and third rewards aren’t useful, but the Survival Resources pack will grant some nice supplies if you wish. Given how useful some of the supplies were in Alan Wake 1, they should be pretty helpful.
