Alan Wake 2 will Have Quality and Performance Modes on PlayStation and Xbox

Which will you choose?

Alan Wake 2 is going to push its graphical aspects forward the most. However, Remedy has confirmed that the game will support Quality and Performance modes in its console versions, allowing players to enjoy a smoother experience if they prefer them over the nicer graphics and refined visuals. The performance and quality modes will be available on PlayStation and Xbox.

Alan Wake 2 is a game that’s been built with a cinematic experience in mind. The game is made to support 30 FPS and the highest fidelity visuals. However, a recent post from Remedy Communications Director Robert Puha has confirmed that the game will have a Performance Mode for players who prefer smoother framerates.

Some users have asked Puha about whether the game will have an unlocked framerate or a locked 60 FPS target, to which the Director answered that the team at Remedy is “Still tweaking” such configuration. Additionally, the experience will be far more customizable on PC, as some savvy users might expect, since graphic settings can be manually set.

Alan Wake 2 will continue to push for a more cinematic experience, meaning high-fidelity visuals in its console version at 30FPS. But it still is a nice touch to allow players to have an experience that fully lets them experience a smooth gameplay setting where graphics are slightly toned down in favor of better performance all around.

Alan Wake 2 will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 27. The game is $49.99 on PC and $59.99 on consoles for the standard edition. You can take a look at each edition’s differences here.
