How to Use the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3

If you travel out the broken wall of the Selunite Outpost, you’ll soon stumble upon the Spectator and a series of petrified Drow. This scene is the unfortunate consequence of a hunt for the Adamantine Forge, but you can succeed where they failed, using the Memory Shard.

And using the Memory Shard is very easy. All you have to do is open up your inventory and double-click it. Doing so will give you a chance to pass an Arcana saving throw, which uses Intelligence. You’ll only need to roll a 10 to succeed.

If you hit a 10 or higher, you’ll get the image of the Adamantine Forge. You’ll see it’s in some place that is excruciatingly hot and deep. Some place further in the Underdark.

Finding the Adamantine Forge is straightforward. You’ll need to jump on the boat in the Destitute Village on the edge of the black lake in the Underdark. Doing so will let you access the Grymforge. But before you Access the Adamantine Forge, you’ll need to free Nere.

How to Get the Memory Shard in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Memory Shard can be acquired from Dhourn, either dead or alive. If you’re a female Drow, you can essentially bully Dhourn into giving you the Memory Shard and leaving with his life. Alternatively, you can kill him and loot the Memory Shard from his body.

This is very likely to happen if you don’t kill the Spectator first, as the Spectator is the one controlling Dhourn and his allies.

If you do keep Dhourn alive, he’ll tell you about his ally, Filro the Forgotten. But if you kill him, you can loot the Icy Helve, which is otherwise impossible to get unless you pickpocket him before he leaves.
