We’re heading to the first proper update to Honkai: Star Rail, and that means we get tons of promotional features in typical Hoyoverse fashion. Their Web Event promoting Silver Wolf, the first new character to be featured in the 1.1 banners, does have some strange decisions like the company asking you to take over your account to make free advisement to them.
Silver Wolf’s Game is the name of the event, and while it’s thematically fitting for the character, it’s far from what I would call the best launch event they could’ve come up with. And the worst part: We get next to nothing as a reward. Thanks, I hate it.
You’ll Be Hacked! And Forced to Become an Advertiser
The event revolves around visiting the special site and following its rules. Silver Wolf is a hacker in the game, so why not have users being hacked themselves?
By participating in the event, you’re allowing that external app (BelugaIconDecoration) to enter your Twitter account and change your profile photo, avatar, and bio for a few days to get amazing rewards! Which are they again? Oh yeah, some minor resources and x30 Stellar Jades.
Yes, a total of 30 Jades. That’s not even 1/5 of a pull. Not even the worst Genshin Impact Web Events are that bad. And you can complete some of them in like, five minutes total. Oh, and we need to reach the minimum amount of 50000 people being “hacked” before we can get those Jades. And we have until June 7 for that too.

You’re compromising some freedom from your Twitter account for a few days for that. Paid for Blue? Too bad, you also lose your checkmark for a few days (probably deserved, but that’s another story). Who thought this event was actually a good idea?! Well, at least you get a neat Silver Wolf avatar, I guess
Previous Web Events from them are just “share this to complete it faster”, but you can just copy the link and that’s enough. This time they’re forcing you to advertise their game in exchange for something that’s even less than crumbs.
More Than Just a Bad Event
While some people didn’t bother with the event, others were somewhat disappointed with it. The event itself wasn’t advertised outside of Twitter, so not a lot of people heard about it. But when they hear, they don’t hold some bad comments back.
You might think I’m overreacting, but stay with me for a second. Yes, this is just another minor event, different from the usual Web Events. Yes, you can just make a burner account for the rewards. And yes, it’s not like other companies aren’t out there hunting for your data already.
You don’t care about Twitter? Good, that’s a positive mental health sign! But some people do, and many use it for work, and it definitely feels suspicious having to accept giving almost full control of your account to a weird app just for a small joke. From which you get almost nothing in return.
Take a look at some of the permissions:
They definitely can accomplish the “you’ll be hacked” thing if they want. And even if you make a burner account for that, many won’t. And as far as I believe that they won’t do anything serious with our account, I still don’t feel safe in giving out all of these permissions for almost nothing.

This is just a small joke to promote the new character, but you can’t do literally anything with the rewards. The Jades are indeed useful, but only because we rarely get them for free in-game to begin with. And that’s still a pitiful amount. Nothing in the game can be bought with 30 Jades. And 5000 Credits won’t get you much far in the game either. So why bother?
What’s Else to Come
At the end of the day, that’s just an almost irrelevant event set in a god-forsaken bird app that will probably not even be as good for advertisement. It’s a creative, silly joke to do with fans, but it just feels bad to know that they can get away with such bad rewards and somewhat shady permissions on our accounts.
We hope that this is not a precedent for a sequel of bad external events, since they’re also relevant when saving for future characters/Light Cones. We can see why the game’s release version wouldn’t feature many of them, but we know that 1.1 is filled with those, so let’s hope that some better, actual Web Events will also be announced later.
And having some slightly better rewards would be good too. I’m not getting hacked by Silver Wolf today, but have fun if you’re one of the “victims”. Her banner is on the way, so prepare as you can.
