How Old is Mercy in Overwatch 2? – Answered
When Overwatch 1 was first released in 2016, Blizzard made the mistake of listing hard ages for many of the heroes, including Mercy. This was a mistake, as it locked them into ages that very quickly became confusing for the timeline.
Mercy, in 2016, was 37 according to Blizzard. Overwatch 2 happens a year after the Recall, making her 38 all these years later. But is she really 38? Or are we just being generous with the numbers?
In 2018, a letter was published on the Blizzard site from Torbjorn to his wife, Ingrid. In it, Torbjorn laments that Mercy’s dreams of tissue regeneration were a reality.
The issue with this letter is that it’s dated 23 years before Overwatch, meaning that Mercy was 14 at the time that she was “dreaming” of tissue regeneration and already close friends with Torbjorn. While Mercy is a prodigy, this seems unlikely.

Fans have also noted that Mercy just doesn’t seem to age, while the ravages of time continue to affect other old guard members like Soldier: 76, Ana, and Winston. Even Reaper would likely see the raves of time if not for the brutal experiments Moira conducted on him.
This discrepancy has led to many half-baked fan theories that Mercy has created an anti-aging medicine that she refuses to share with anyone else. It’s far more likely that Mercy should be in her 40’s or 50’s, but marketing says it’s better to keep her squarely in the 30’s, like an undying demon who can revive the dead. After all, she’s a fan favorite and her cosmetics probably wouldn’t sell as well if they gave her a few wrinkles.
