The Last Guardian Still In the Works, Will Ship When “It’s Ready”

Judging by its no-show at the Electronic Entertainment Expo last week, many fans were worried that Team Ico’s long-in-development The Last Guardian was canned.  However, that’s not the case.  An interview with Gamespot has revealed that the game is still in the works, though a release date hasn’t been pinned down as of yet.

PlayStation software development head Scott Rohde had this to say on the game’s progress:  “I will not give you a detailed update, but I will say one thing and it goes back to innovation and to gamers and to quality.  That title is going to ship when it’s absolutely ready.”

When Gamespot prodded on about a release date, he responded, again, “It’s going to ship at sometime, and it’s going to ship when it’s ready.  And I think that’s a really important thing to remember, is that it would be very easy to ship a game when it’s not quite ready because we need to meet a business plan.”

So it’s still in the works, but without a release date, it’s still up in the air when we’re going to see it.  When it’s ready, I guess…
