Where to Find Shotgun in Resident Evil 4 Remake

When Does the Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Mode Release? – Answered

A strange omission, given how little time we'll have to wait.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is now available, and with it comes a ton of content for players to work away at. You can expect the game to feel like a similar length to the original, though players who dig deep and try to complete everything there is to do could find themselves playing dozens of hours. One Resident Evil staple is missing in the game as of writing, though you won’t have to wait long. Here’s when the Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries mode will release.

When Can You Play Mercenaries Mode in the Resident Evil 4 Remake?

For a bit of background, Mercenaries mode is a minigame that has become a staple of many modern Resident Evil entries. It was first featured in Resident Evil 3, and was later added to Resident Evil 4 (the original), Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil Village, and as the entirety of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. While some minor parts of the mode have changed with each installment, the core idea of killing enemies as quickly as possible has remained the same.

Unfortunately, the Resident Evil 4 Remake doesn’t have Mercenaries mode at launch, but it will be getting it very soon. According to the Launch Trailer for the game, the mode will arrive as a free DLC on April 7. The team has yet to divulge more details about the mode, but it’s presumed it will work identically to its RE4 (2005) counterpart alongside some minor tweaks. That means that it will likely require you to complete the main game before you unlock it, though at the moment this is unconfirmed.

This likely won’t be the last we see of the Resident Evil 4 Remake’s post-launch plans. There could still be other DLC, including the return of the highly-acclaimed Separate Ways DLC (more details in our guide).
