If you’re attempting to amass an army of bees, there’s one thing you’re going to need: beehives. And to make beehives, you’re going to need honeycomb. And to get honey honeycomb, you’re going to need beehives. It’s a Ouroboros of beeswax. Here’s how to get honeycomb in Minecraft.
How to Get Honeycomb in Minecraft
If you’re playing Survival mode, finding honeycomb can prove a little difficult. You’re going to need to find a bee nest. Fortunately, these bees houses spawn in common biomes, so start your search in the locations.
- Plains
- Meadow
- Flower Forest
- Sunflower Plains
Personally, I think Sunflower Plains is the better locations, as it has a good distribution of trees while also giving you clear lines of sight. It’s like melding the best aspects of the Plains and Flower Forest. Meadow is another good shout, as it has higher spawn rates. But whatever location you pick, we’re going to need to be on the lookout for oak or birch trees. It’s these trees that bees build their hives, and you’ll know you’ve found the right one if you see a few blocky yellow bugs hanging around.
Once you’ve found a hive, wait until the bees carrying pollen enter it. Eventually, the hive will become full of honey and will begin dripping golden goo. When it reaches this stage, it’s the perfect time to harvest.
Set up a campfire beneath or within five tiles of the hive. You’ll need to do this to keep the bees calm. Then, take the shears to the hive. If you waited until the hive was full of honey, you should get three honeycomb. Pick them up for before they vanish, and you’ll be able to craft more beehive to get more honeycomb. Or you could start your own Etsy business and start crafting candles.
