Part of what makes Alien: Isolation appealing is the concept of a dynamic foe. Both Sega and Creative Assembly claim to have designed the alien in such a way that it exhibits different behavior each time you encounter it. The goal is to leave the player guessing and of course terrified. That said, this latest video (with a small bit of new footage) covers this in more depth.
