Yooka-Laylee – How to Find All the Play Coins

Learn the locations of all five of Rextro’s Play Coins in Yooka-Laylee.
This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Yooka-Laylee is a return to the classic platforming gameplay that made Banjo-Kazooie and other N64 titles so popular, and that includes the addition of various collectible items that players must find and earn to beat the game. One of these items, Play Coins, can be found across the five worlds that make up Yooka-Laylee’s main game. Players should find these coins, because they can then be used to access special arcade games in Rextro’s arcade. In this article we’ll detail the locations of all five of the Play Coins in Yooka-Laylee, and show you how to get them.

Tribalstack Tropics

The first Play Coin is found within the first world that players discover in the Grand Tomes. Once you find Rextro, look for a ramp that leads down into a ravine. Follow the left side of the ravine until you reach a cave holding this Play Coin inside.

Glitterglaze Glacier

The second Play Coin for Rextro’s Arcade can be found in the expanded version of Icymetric Castle. After you expand the world, move through the castle until you find Rextro. At this point, don’t head up the ramp, instead turn around and move to the back of the room to find a door hidden by some boxes that you can break through. You’ll find a set of Play Coins in the room beyond, but only one of them is real. Look for the Play Coin on the far-right hand side, directly in the middle to find the real one.

Moodymaze Marsh

Players can find the third Play Coin just after moving through the second underwater tunnel in this world. After you leave the tunnel behind, look out for a Lizard Lash tether on a crate, and use your Lizard Lash power to pull it down. Now, use Lizard Lash to reach the next platform, do a 180 turn, and move to the next platform, where you will find this Play Coin.

Capital Cashino

When you first enter this world, turn to the right and look for a path that leads to Rextro. Follow the beside until you reach Rextro, then take a look at the slot machine next to him. Interact with the machine using the Buddy Slam power on the buttons and try to match all three spinners with the icon including Yooka and Laylee. The spinner speeds up with each press of the button, though, so make sure you time each slam carefully.

Galleon Galaxy

The final Play Coin in the game can be found after you expand Galleon Galaxy. Head into the world and look for a giant pink moon in the back left-hand area of the level. Once here you should keep an eye out for an island that looks like a set of skull and crossbones. Now, look for the tallest peak, and then climb it to obtain this Play Coin.

Now that you know how to find all of the Play Coins in Yooka-Laylee, make sure you beat each of Rextro’s Arcades and earn the two Pagies that they have to offer.
