To help you out we’ve outlined how to find all the skills in Yooka-Laylee, including their location and what they do.

Tail Twirl – Free

You’ll get this skill free near the start of the game. This skill allows Yooka to twirl around and smack enemies around with his tail.

Reptile Roll – Free

Trowzer will teach you this move after you have collected your fist Pagie. It technically costs, but he forgets to take the Quills from you, so we’ll just call it free. This move will allow you to roll up steep inclines that you would normally slide back down on.

Sonar Shot – 30 Quills

This skill can be purchased from Trowzer inside of Tribalstack Tropics. It lets Laylee shoot sound at enemies and statues, allowing you to make invisible or sleeping statues wake up/appear. It can also stun enemies.

Slurp Shot – 30 Quills

This skill will allow you to shoot berries out at enemies, making it easy to take out enemies from afar. You can purchase this skill from Trowzer for 30 Quills inside of Tribalstack Tropics, so make sure you grab it early on.

Buddy Slam – 30 Quills

The Buddy Slam allows Yooka and Laylee to team up and slam into the ground. This move is used to stun enemies and activate special buttons and switches. You can purchase it from Trowzer in Tribalstack Tropics.

Glide – Free

Players will unlock the Glide skill for free after they complete the first quiz from Dr. Quack. You’ll meet him as you try to head to the next Grand Tome.

Slurp State – 40 Quills

While visiting Glitterglaze Glacier, be sure to pick up this skill from Trowzer. It will allow you to take on the properties of what you eat, instead of just shooting it out. This can make Yooka sticky, make him heavy, make him glow, and so on down the line—depending on the item that he eats.

Lizard Leap – 40 Quills

This skill allows you to jump much higher than normal and can be purchased by talking to Trowzer inside of Glitterglaze Glacier.

Bubble Walk – Free

This skill is learned for free after you leave the Glitterglaze Glacier Grand Tome and make your way into the Archives. If you haven’t unlocked the Archive yet, then you’ll need to head to Rextro’s Arcade and pick up the Ice Seeds, and then use them to press the button on the door. Once the Archive is open, head inside and look for Trowzer in the back left-hand corner of the arrow. Here he’ll teach you the Bubble Walk skill, allowing you to walk below the water.

Lizard Lash – 60 Quills

Visit Trowzer in Moodymaze Marsh and purchase this skill to unlock the ability to pull yourself up onto ledges using Yooka’s tongue. It can also be used to grab onto other objects and move them around.

Sonar ‘Splosion – 60 Quills

This move can be used to break glass and ice blocks, as well as to knock out enemies. It can be obtained by talking to Trowzer inside of Moodymaze Marsh. You’ll need this skill to complete certain objectives in some levels, so make sure you grab it during your first trip to Moodymaze Marsh.

Camo Cloak – Free

You’ll come across Trowzer on your way to Capital Cashino, the fourth Grand Tome, and he’ll give you this power for free. We’d suggest learning how to find all the Power Extenders if you plan to use it, though, as it drains your power very quickly.

Reptile Rush – 80 Quills

Speak to Trowzer inside of Capital Cashino and unlock this skill for 80 Quills. Once unlocked you can charge up a spinning roll that shoots you forward extremely fast. This is great for breaking glass objects, or pushing heavy objects around.

Flappy Flight – Free

You’ll get Flappy Flight for free after you leave Capital Cashino. Head to the entrance of the new hub and look out for Vendi. From here, head across the area towards the green goo, where you’ll find Trowzer. He’ll teach you how to use this skill for free, which you’ll find extremely useful if you want to learn how to collect all the Pirate Treasures. This move allows you to flap around and fly, so long as you have enough power.

Sonar Shield – 100 Quills

The final skill in the game can be purchased from Trowzer for 100 Quills while inside of Galleon Galaxy. This move lets you create a shield around Yooka and Laylee, which will prevent all incoming damage for as long as you power holds out. It’s great for getting through gas-filled areas, or for making your way through laser grids and other damaging obstacles.

Now that you know how to get all the skills in Yooka-Laylee, make sure you learn how to get every Butterfly Booster to learn how to enhance your health and stay alive longer.
