Game Decks is Making a Yooka-Laylee Board Game

A Yooka-Laylee board game is coming courtesy of Game Decks, Limited Run Games, and Playtonic. The board game will be available exclusively on Limited Run Games with pre-orders going live next week on June 29

Not only is a board game emerging from this partnership, but Game Decks is also working to release an original Yooka-Laylee soundtrack with ten songs written and produced by Perry Burkum.

The soundtrack will be included with the Special Edition copy of the Yooka-Laylee board game. Speaking of the board game, here’s a description provided with the announcement today that offers a look at what Yooka-Laylee fans can expect.

“Quills, quills, quills! Use quills to buy Glide, Reptile Roll and Honey Puddle powerups to give yourself an edge over your opponents. The Ghost Writers!

Have you got what it takes to beat their fiendish challenges and earn a bucket-load of points? Characters you love (and hate)!

You’ll find Blasto, Kartos, Trowzer and TONS more sprawled across the Game Decks board, brought to life with stunning hand-painted artwork.”

Digging in a little deeper, the Yooka-Laylee board game features card decks that can be created and used on a unique board that’s different every time you play. You’ll need to move through this board, purchase powerups, and earn points to defeat your opponents.

Even if you aren’t much of a board game person, the Yooka-Laylee board game certainly has an appeal to collectors. In particular, there will be a Special Edition copy (as previously mentioned) that includes a brand new soundtrack called Yooka-Laylee Capital B-Sides that’s included with it.

And to add some extra flavor, a Gold Edition copy will also be available for purchase. The Gold Edition version of the Yooka-Laylee board game will reportedly include alternate dice, player pieces, and a cover card, along with a gold foil cover that lets you know this is the fancy version.

Stay tuned for pricing and additional information next week when pre-orders go live. Pre-orders will be available exclusively through Limited Run Games, with pre-orders set to begin on June 29.

While we wait to grab that pre-order, we’re curious what your thoughts are on the news that Yooka-Laylee is getting a collectible board game. Are you interested in buying it from a collector’s standpoint, or does the card game look and sound like something you and your friends/family will play?
