The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s latest expansion, Blood and Wine, includes a handful of great Easter Eggs to track down – including a reference to the classic first-person adventure, Portal. Here’s how to find the Portal Easter Egg in The Witcher 3.

Of course, it helps if you can track down a portal within the world of The Witcher 3, alongside a cake and Companion Cube. Here’s what you need to know to track it down.

Starting Your Quest In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

First, take on the secondary quest called Turn and Face the Strange. You’ll be able to open this up as you make your way through the main story quests in Blood and Wine in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so don’t worry about tracking it down. Make your way through Beauclair as you complete missions, and you’ll find a messenger with the mission in hand.

After reading the letter, you’ll start the quest and have to make your way through different portals. Get to the room that has two floors of portals, then go down towards the lower floor. You’ll come across a statue, but go past it and make your way up the rocks, which will bring you to a secondary level just on the other side. There will be a middle portal there. Go through it, and then go past the next portal you see to the left. You’ll come across a small opening you can go through, with a railing on the right hand side. Once you’re there, look for a portal to your back side. Go through it.

Some Familiar Items in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Once you’re there, you’ll be in a room that has a box right in the center. You’ll see some hearts in faded printing on the center box, indicating the reference to the Companion Cube that we mentioned.

You’ll also see a cake item to the right of the chest, which looks like the one straight out of Portal. But we’re not done yet, as there’s one more cool reference to notice. As you turn around, you’ll see that the color of the portal has changed. It’s no longer blue, but rather orange – same as the colors used in the game.

Once you finish this quest, you’ll be able to use the new Mutations system, although it helps to have plenty of skill points and money on hand so you can buy stuff.

GLADoS may not have made the trip to Beauclair, but this Portal Easter Egg for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is well worth searching for. This was a triumph!
