Will Smite 2 Carry Over Skins From Smite 1?

The answer is no, most of the skins from the first game will not transfer over to Smite 2. Hi-Rez Studios confirmed that the sequel has over 1,600 skins that would need to be recreated in Unreal Engine 5 which would take an ungodly amount of time. Instead, they have gone with a Legacy Gems system that will help players get some new skins.

For every Gem that each player purchased in the original Smite, they will get one Legacy Gem in return for the new game. So, if you purchased or earned 4,000 Gems in the original game, you will have 4,000 Legacy Gems in Smite 2. If you purchase the Founders pack, your total will double to what the original number of gems was.

The catch is that Legacy Gems can only be used to pay for up to 50% of a purchase. That means any additional skins you want in Smite 2 still need to be purchased with real currency along with your gems. For example, if a skin is $20, you can only use the Legacy Gems to pay for $10 in total. The rest comes out of pocket.

For the time being, players will be able to participate in the Divine Legacy event. Anyone who participates will have their account evaluated and be rewarded with some cosmetics based on their time in the game over 10 years. Most of the skins in the event will be transferrable to Smite 2 so there is certainly some incentive to try it out.
