It’s been over 10 years since the release of Dead Island and we can finally say that Dead Island 2 is just around the corner, with hopefully no more delays. However, when it comes to PC, it’s already known that Dead Island 2 is an Epic Games Store exclusive. But, will Dead Island 2 be available on Steam? That’s what Prima Games is trying to find out in this article.
When Will Dead Island 2 be Released on Steam?
For now, Dead Island 2 is not available via Steam. On Windows, the game will make its debut as an Epic Games Store exclusive. Some fans are most probably going to wait until it is released on Steam before playing it, because they are not happy with Epic Store for one reason or the other.

The developers of Dead Island 2 (Deep Silver Dambuster Studios, YAGER, and Sumo Digital) have so far not made any official announcements regarding whether Dead Island 2 will be released on Steam, or remain as an Epic exclusive. This gives a lot of opportunity for conjecture over whether or when Dead Island 2 will be made available on Steam in the future. We’ll go over our theory below.
Is Dead Island 2 Coming to Steam?
Dead Island 2 is indeed an Epic Games Store exclusive at the moment BUT, so far, we don’t know whether this is a permanent or just a timed exclusive arrangement. It’s a safe bet to assume that this exclusivity won’t last forever. Why? Because almost all of the sales of a video game happen in the initial period after release. Some people get hyped and buy the game immediately upon release (or pre-order it), some wait for the reviews and gameplay videos, and some wait for the sales after a year.
We anticipate seeing Dead Island 2 next year on Steam because the timed exclusivity period typically lasts around a year in most Epic Games exclusivity deals. We’ll update the article if the developers of Dead Island 2 respond on the matter, but for the time being, all we can do is hope that nature runs its course.
