You won’t be able to pick up these Everwood Planks because they are crafted and locked behind specific tools. Here’s a quick guide to crafting and obtaining these Everwood Planks, whether to repair the bridge or craft other tools and decorations.

How to Get Everwood in Outbound

Before getting Everwood Planks, you must first get some Everwood. They might be easy to find, but the biggest challenge is actually getting a lot of them, since they are used in almost everything, especially as fuel for your van or to light a campfire.

Firstly, you can get Everwood by just roaming around the grassy areas and finding small logs you can pick up, giving you one Everwood each. However, that’s going to be extremely slow since they aren’t that abundant when you need upwards of 20+ Everwood at times.

The efficient way to get Everwood is by chopping down Everwood Tree (the dead ones on the ground), which visually just looks bigger than the typical Everwood you can pick up. In Outbound, it is quite immersive as the game doesn’t let you chop down trees, but instead only gives you the dead Everwood Trees on the ground. To start chopping these things down, you must get the axe blueprint from one of the early terminals in the first area (mainly around the Fire Lookout landmark).

Download the axe blueprint and craft one. You won’t physically equip the axe. You can see it under your tools when you open your backpack, acting like a passive tool. So when you have the axe already, go and interact with any dead Everwood Tree on the floor, and it’ll automatically use the axe without the need to equip it. Now that you have an efficient way of getting Everwood, here’s how to make the Everwood Planks.

When you start progressing through the main objectives, you’ll eventually come across tasks that lead you to craft a Sawmill (close to the quest where you needed to craft a Recycler). After going through the objectives, you’ll unlock the Sawmill, which automatically shows up in your build menu.

Go to your build menu and select the Workstations category. Go to the Workstations – Material Processing subcategory and look for the Sawmill. It should require 10x Everwood and 2x Scrap Metal to craft one. When you craft the Sawmill, you still need a small counter to place inside the van. Craft a counter in the Organization Counters tab if you don’t have one yet.

Once you have the Sawmill placed, interact with it, and you should see an Input and Output. 2x Everwood will turn into 1x Everwood Plank using the Sawmill. You don’t have to physically drag your Everwood in your inventory to place it in the input.

The Sawmill automatically finds all available inputs in your van’s inventory or storage when you press one of the empty boxes on the input side. Select the input boxes, place the appropriate amount of Everwood, and turn the switch on. Crafting isn’t instant here, so you’ll have to wait a bit until you get all your Everwood Planks.

This is the main way to get Everwood Planks and you’ll really need a lot of them soon.
