Starfield: Where to Buy Lubricant

You can buy lubricant at any general store in Starfield. You can search their resource section for a list of organic, inorganic, and manufactured materials the vendor sells.

Below are a few examples of general stores in Starfield that sell lubricant:

  • Jemison Mercantile in Spaceport, Jemison, Alpha Centauri.
  • UC Distribution Center in Commercial District, Jemison, Alpha Centauri.
  • Shepherd’s General Store in Akila City, Akila, Cheyenne.
  • Clint’s Collectibles (Gagarin Landing).
  • UC Exchange (Cydonia).
  • Outland Store (New Atlantis).
  • Trade Authority (New Atlantis).
  • Newill’s Goods (Freestar Rangers).
  • Midtown Minerals (Akila City).
  • New Homestead Store (Titan).

The Trade Authority also sells a small selection of randomized resources. However, their list is typically much smaller than those of general stores.

The average lubricant price is around 15-17 credits. You will typically see about six to eight in stock at one time. Every merchant has different quantities and prices that fluctuate daily, and you can change this by waiting 24 hours on a chair or bench. Doing this refreshes shop stocks, allowing you to find new items and prices.

Why Can’t I Find Lubricant?

Since every store’s resources refresh daily, there’s a chance you won’t find any lubricant when you check your first shop. If this happens, you have two options: hop to another store or wait a full day before rechecking the list.

Tip:

To purchase large quantities of lubricant, buy every lubricant a merchant has. Then wait for 24 hours in-game. There’s a chance lubricant will appear in the refreshed resource list!

How to Farm Lubricant

Knowing the most optimal farming spots for lubricant is extremely helpful in crafting and upgrading. You can buy lubricant repeatedly from vendors to “farm” it effectively, though this will cost a lot of money.

One of the best ways to actually farm lubricant is in your Animal Husbandry Facility. You can raise Beetlecrabs inside of the facility yourself, which drop lubricant.

You can also find lubricant drops out in the wild from Herding Beetlecrab Grazers. These are found on Beta Marae I. Lubricant is also dropped from various other creatures.

What Lubricant is Used For?

Lubricant is a very handy resource that you use in crafting and improving outposts. You use it to expand your options when building on moons and planets. Lubricant is also used for upgrading equi and technology research, as well as upgrading equipment.
