The recent Minecraft Nether update has made some big changes to the game, including adding a new material that is stronger than Diamond. Players who are willing to venture into the Nether can mine for Ancient Debris, which can be smelted into Netherite Scraps and used to upgrade tools and gear. Sounds pretty sweet, right? So, where do you find Ancient Debris in Minecraft?

Minecraft Ancient Debris Location – How to Get

Before we tell you where to find Ancient Debris, we need to explain how to actually mine for it. Specifically, you’re going to need to have a Diamond pickaxe handy, as anything less won’t yield you any debris. So, once you’ve got that taken care of, you’ll need to hop into a Nether Portal and get ready to dig. In the Nether, Ancient Debris can only be found in levels 8-22, so searching in higher or lower level areas will be a waste of your time. Also, be careful when you’re digging because it’s VERY easy to fall into the lava in the Nether — and there is nothing more depressing than losing all your loot in a fiery death.

If you’ve never seen Ancient Debris before, it looks like a tree stump and is a darker shade of brown than the normal Nether blocks. It can be quite tricky to find as it doesn’t appear very often, but you’ll know it when you see it. After you’ve collected enough Ancient Debris, you can smelt it into Netherite Scraps. From there, you can combine four Netherite Scraps with four Gold Ingots (see image above) and voila, you’ll have yourself some Netherite Ingots.

With the Netherite Ingots in hand, you’ll be able to turn your Diamond materials into Netherite, which will make them even stronger. Once you’re at the smelting table, you’ll want to put your Diamond tool in the left slot and your Netherite Ingot in the right slot and you’ll have yourself a fancy new tool.

If you weren’t able to tell, getting Ancient Debris and Netherite in Minecraft is going to be a bit of a time-consuming task. But if you want to have the best materials in the game, then you’re going to have to make time to get it done. Luckily, players will only need one Netherite Ingot to upgrade their weapon, but getting that one Ingot is still going to be a lot of trouble.

For those who are new to Minecraft or have been away for a while and need a refresher, there are tons of items you can craft that will require a lot less work. In the links below, you’ll find some of our recent crafting guides:
